Offerings for Students

Tutoring and Test Preparation

K-8th.All subjects. Helps students to complete classwork and homework assigned at school.

9th-12th. Reading, Writing, Social Studies. Helps students to complete coursework and homework assigned at school.

All grades. Test Preparation for Oregon state assessments (OAKS). Review of subject matter and vocabulary. Coaching in proven test-taking practices and techniques. Practice in test taking using paper and pencil sample tests similar to those actually taken by the students.

3rd-8th. Enrichment for TAG students. Provide guidance for exploration of topics and activities beyond what is taught in the classroom. Helps the student who is “bored” because she is not challenged in class.

We meet with parents and the child to develop an individual learning plan.

What if a parent parent says that the child has trouble with reading. What does this mean? Is it word recognition? Is it fluency (the rate at which a child reads)? Is it comprehension? Is it with specific types of text (fiction or non-fiction)?

We assess the child's reading skills and develop a tutoring plan that will enhance those skills.
